How is the overstay fine calculated?
The fine consists of two parts: a violation fee ($50 for the first month + $10 per additional month) and a penalty equal to 2× the annual residence permit fee for your country group. Both are converted to TL at the current exchange rate.
When does the entry ban start?
If your overstay is up to 3 months, there is no entry ban. 3–6 months overstay results in a 3-month ban, up to 12 months a 6-month ban, up to 24 months a 1-year ban, up to 36 months a 2-year ban, and over 36 months a 5-year ban.
What if I do not pay the fine?
Unpaid fines result in a 5-year entry ban to Turkey, regardless of the overstay duration.
Where do I pay the fine?
Fines are paid at the tax office or police post at the departing airport or border gate before leaving Turkey.
